Maider Aizpuru - BIELE GROUP

"We have been regulating language policy for 15 years and this has helped us a lot to manage languages properly"

Maider Aizpuru is the person responsible for Quality at Biele Group. She has agreed to participate in the Indeus interviews project to tell us about the history and evolution of the company, as well as her experience in the linguistic management of an internationalized company.

Biele Group is a company founded in the 70s of the last century to produce automation equipment for the wood processing industry. Today it develops automation lines and equipment for companies in all sectors: "We do not have a standard machine or a catalog with the machines we have. A customer comes in and says what needs he has, based on that we design the machine, buy the material and here we assemble it and start it up."

Maider tells us that they started regulating language policy around 15 years ago, facing fears and misgivings: "There came a time when we had to regulate language policy and people were afraid, they said, but how are we going to go to Germany to sell in Basque? The linguistic policy is not to go to Germany to sell in Basque. What regulates a language policy is that if we have to go to Germany we will try to do it in German with the customer. To regulate the language policy is to facilitate our work".
